COURSES OF INSTRUCTION. Biology with special reference to Agriculture. Lessons will be conducted in our new Biological Laboratory which is well equipped with the best of microscopes and other appliances. Instructor L. S. Dougherty. Shelby Maddox, who has been tested by successful experience as a Latin Instructor in the State University. Plane Geometry. Instructor J. E. Weatherly. Algebra. Instructor Supt. C. S. Brother, who has been making a specialty of this subject for several years. History, Ancient and Modern. Classes will have access to a well chosen special Historical Library. Instructor Dr. W. D. Dobson. Literature. There will be several classes, some of which will study with special reference to the correlation of Literature with Elementary Science. All classes will have access to our new department libraries chosen with reference to the subjects to be taught. Instructor Miss O. A. Parrish. Training School. The correlation of Literature, Elementary Science and Arithmetic will be exemplified by two classes of children selected from our Training School. Instructors Miss Susie Barnes and Mrs. Rebecca Conlon. Lessons in Science, by the laboratory method, three hours in length; other lessons, from one to two hours in length. Each student will be allowed to pursue not to exceed two subjects. In each subject it is expected that at least as much work will be done as is ordinarily done in a half year of school or college work. Credit for work done will be entered in the records of the institution. Expenses. A uniform fee of $10.00 payable in advance to the Treasurer of the Board of Regents will be charged whether the student pursue two subjects or only one. NOTE: -- In view of the amended school law requiring Algebra and Literature for second grade county certificates and, in addition thereto, one branch of science with one of history for first grade county certificates the County School Commissioners' Convention at Jefferson City last December agreed that grades in these subjects, obtained in the Summer Schools of the University and State Normal Schools, should be accredited on teachers' certificates without further examination, provided said Summer Schools left the common school branches to the County Institutes. The State Superintendent of Public Schools extends a like courtesy to applicants for state certificates. (Page 2)
