(1) North fork American river this November the 23st 1851 Dear brothers I one time more take My pen in han[d] to inform you that we are well at present an[d] hope when these few lines come to your han[d] they will find you all well[.] I have not much to write at present[.] provision is low at this time[.] flour is worth 10 c[en]ts[,] beef 25 cts[,] potatoes 10 to 15 cts[.] I am not doing much at present[.] I think we will strike a pretty good prospeck[prospect] of Gold when we get down[done] with our hole[.] I an[d] Joseph Biswell is working to gether[.] Jonathan & Gideon Wright an[d] dock is working to gether[.] they have got A good claim[.] I was not ther[e] when they struck it so when I come back they would not let me in[.] widdle you and the Boys take care of your selves[.] no more at Present[.] give my Respects to all[.] her[e] is two dollars an[d] [a] half for you all[.] I will send you some money the first chance I get[.] this to papa and the famly[.] N B Biswell [P.
