Dear Mother: Havent heard from you lately. but I take no news, as good news, and hope you are feeling much better. The "Shakespeares" gave a Pres. Washington in party at our house yesterday. It was a beautiful day + about 20 were present. I had a fine time. Today is much colder + snowed some. Have 2 cases of smallpox in town. We all keep well as usual + busy [unintelligible]. Feb. has been a bad month. I will be glad
