Auburn Cal March 21th 1852

Dear Parrents and Relations

I now seat myself.  To write you a few lines to inform you all that we are all well at present[.]  And I hope when these few lines come to your hands that they will find you all enjoying all the blessings you could wish [for.]  I received a letter a few days ago it was written the first Day of January[.]  I was truly glad to hear of you all being well and doing well[.]  I have not much to write at present[.]  Times at present are prety good[.]  I and Brother Norville are partners in every thing we make[.]  I am working for myself at present and Norville is working by the day[.]  we have had some rain[.]  I have worked three weeks since the rain that is[.]  I and William Belshe we are partners[.]  we took out over 400 Dollars[.]  I would like to see you all very well at present but I do not [k]no[w] when I will see you[.]  I am very well sadisfied here[.]

I expect you would like for me to write all over this paper but I will not at present.  There is several of our cousins here with us[.] they are all here except Wm & J B Clarkson[.]  they were well the last time I he[a]rd from them[.]  I will give you a list of their names[.]  Cousin John Wright[,] Gideon Wright[,] Gideon Haines & Brother Joseph Biswell [&] William Belshe[.]  They are all well at present And none of them talks of comeing home at present[.]  Tell the Girls I would like to see them all very well at present[.]  Tell all the Children that Jona has got a fiddle and can play[.]  I have [not] sent any money[.]  I am a little affraid to send it by the express but if I get a good chance I will send you Three hundred Dollars[.]  do not be uneasy about us for we are old enough to take care of our selves[.]  that is all I have to write at present[.]  I want you to write all the news and w[h]ether there is many people coming to this country or not[.]  tell all of our friends to stay at home[.]  no more at present[.]  please excuse all the mistakes for I am in a
