Edwin Darrow, 1829-1887, was born in Summit County, OH, and moved with his parents to Adair County, MO, in 1854. In 1862 he began his military service with the Enrolled Missouri Militia, Fiftieth Regiment. In 1864, he was commissioned First Lieutenant of Company A, 39th Infantry, Missouri Volunteers. Darrow was mustered out with the rank of Lieutenant, July 19, 1865, in St. Louis. The Darrow Civil War Diary and Account Book details Darrow's experiences during a portion of his time in the military. The flip side of the diary contains accounts of various types, including clothing issued, men on furlough, and men who died in Centralia, MO.
